Background Information

For the past few years STABILO has been working closely with educationalists, scientists, and designers in hope to develop an ergonomically suitable and appealing mechanical pencil for children learning to write.

When it comes to writing, children consider letters to be unknown shapes. Therefore when being asked to copy a letter exactly, a child will follow the precise shape of the letter. But when doing so they apply pressure whilst writing in order to create this letter, which causes sore muscles and cramping. This is the result of poor gripping habits and pencil handling.

After examining the initial approach children would take to use a pencil and the behavioural aspects of them when it comes to writing, STABILO created the STABILO ‘s move easyergo – the learner pencil for children. Targeting children aged between 5 and 8 years, STABILO is able to build confidence in children by supporting tidy and legible writing at an early age.

The STABILO ‘s move easyergo is an innovative mechanical pencil specially developed for children aged between 5 and 8 years who are just learning to write. Two versions are available to cater for left- and right-handed users.

The mechanical pencil has an ergonomic grip zone to encourage children to relax their muscles and correct their pencil hold consequently supporting the development of growing hands. The pencil also features a robust click mechanism allowing easy extension of the extra thick lead for sharpening. It is available in two colour combinations for both boys and girls and comes with an easy to use name tag system to personalise the pencil.

The principal benefit of the STABILO ‘s move easyergo is that it supports a child’s first steps into the wonderful world of writing in a fun and playful way that they already know.
