What does the ideal pencil look like?

Professor Bruder: “A pencil for those learning to write should be designed so that it generates enthusiasm and supports tidy and legible writing. It should not provoke unhealthy or incorrect posture – this would lead to cramping or symptoms of fatigue, which have a discouraging effect. That is why the pencil should have a moulded grip which guides the hand, whilst at the same time providing it with the freedom it requires, but without negatively influencing the writing. A very important aspect: left-handed people need their own model, as they hold a pencil in a different way to right-handers. A writing instrument that ignores this will result to poor learning performance, and therefore frustration on the part of the pupil.”
